Hello! These are buns for my cheese-filled hamburger sliders. They can be done with or without yeast but I am showing the yeast-less version. 🙂 They are less sweet with yeast.
Start with 1 cup warm water. If you have yeast, add 2 tablespoons active yeast. If not, move on. Add 1/3 oil and1/4 cup sugar and, if there is yeast, let it stand for 5 minutes. Add 1 egg. Mix well.
Add 1/4 teaspoon salt and slowly add 3 cups of flour. If you didn’t add flour, inbetween adding flour, do the following: In a small bowl, put 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 tablespoon lime/lemon juice andmix well with a whisk. It WILL start foaming immediately. Mix into dough quickly then continue adding flour.
They will be slightly more dough-y then th above photo. Put it in the oven at 350* immediately (do not let it rise) and cook until golden, around 20-30 minutes. Makes around a dozen small to medium buns. They will be larger with yeast than without.
