Dexter-themed Strawberry Crepes

Hello! How has your Mother’s day been going? This morning I made a Dexter-themed Mother’s day brunch. Each year for Mother’s day I have a fandom theme. Previously I’ve done Nightmare Before Christmas and even Alice in Wonderland, but this year I chose to do Dexter. For those of you who have no idea what Dexter is, it is a brilliant TV show about a serial killer killing other serial killers. I highly recommend it. Anyhow, each year I make a menu and my mother picks exactly what she feels like off the menu and I make it for her.

This year’s menu:

Easter Egg Maracas

How are you today? It’s the first of May, can you believe it? It is also 2 holidays today. A US holiday, National Day of Prayer and a Pagan holiday, Beltane-Samhain. Many of you are likely asking,  ‘Are you Pagan?’ I am not a Pagan, I just like to respect all religions. So if you are a Pagan or a Wicca, good for you… Please enjoy today.

Either way, there are not a lot of crafts or recipes I can do for either one, so instead I’ll make a Cinco de Mayo craft for you today, Easter Egg Maracas. If you have some of those plastic eggs leftover, suddenly you have a new project. If not, I’m sure they are on sale just about everywhere.

Bunny Masks

Today I am posting my second craft… Easter bunny masks. I suppose they could be worn anytime but it just so happens that tomorrow is Easter! 🙂 Whether or not you celebrate Jesus’s resurrection or the candy and egg traditions that have come to be, hopefully you can find some enjoyment out of these masks. The bunny masks are super easy and fun for kids to help you make.

All of the materials you likely have on hand. You’ll need at least one paper plate, some crayons, a pair of scissors, a tapestry needle with some thread of any color, and some glue (I like Elmer’s but any will work).

Homemade Matzah

So I know I did the poll and I said I would do a baked good but the only problem is it just so happens to be Pesach, or Passover. Of course, on Passover we are not allowed to let any of our bread rise, so a baked good would not do. So I decided to attempt to make matzah for the first year. 🙂 This recipe is adapted from this blog… I highly recommend the blog. I had a ton of fun making this matzah and everyone devoured it!

I changed it slightly based on the ingredients we had and went for it! I used flour instead of  anything special and I did not bother with the 18 minutes because cooking for Passover was insane as is… You could always attempt the recipe with the proper materials and I’m sure it would turnout perfectly, but if not it’s not the worst problem in the world.
