For my mom’s birthday this year, I created a Harley Quinn cake. My mom has always been obsessed with Harley Quinn. She has a Harley blanket, sweater, costume and a Batman room. She is the most obsessive person I’ve ever known (I still love you mom, I probably even got that from you). I admit, this wasn’t my best work. I was slightly rushed because I had to make it when she was out and I had quite a few problems with the fondant.
This year was the big one (or one of them), I turned 16. And of course, I had to have a sweet sixteen birthday party. Now, while most kids consider a sweet sixteen to mean, have everyone you know come over and show off how awesome you are, I decided to invite 13 people and create a murder mystery in February. So, I set off to start the party planning.
After many hours of tedius online research to see what a murder mystery party should look like, my mom deicded to help me out and we decided having it as a conversation to a previous murder would be more fun than seperating the group to go find evidence and the murder victim like some of our internet sources said they had. And it was fantastic. And brilliant.
Hello! I just love fall. I have always been a fall person, and I hope I always will. Whether I’m fall-ing down the stairs, or just smelling the beautiful scents of cinnamon, pumpkin and Christmas (not necessarily all at the same time) I just love fall. Sure, the falling part sucks, but that one happens every day of the year.
Fall is just the perfect time for everything. It’s the perfect time to bake because it is FINALLY cooling down enough to heat the oven (not that that stopped me in the summer)… It’s the perfect time for friends because you are always giving and getting presents… It’s the perfect time for creativity because you’ve got Halloween coming along… (Do I hear cakes and crafts coming?) And it is absolutely the perfect time to have some you time. Whether it’s baking or settling in with a warm cup of tea… It’s just by far the most busy, yet relaxing and wonderful time of the year.
While making regular french toast I may have made chocolate cake french toast…. It was beyond delicious. I’m talking about mouth orgasms. The beautiful crispiness yet softness of the chocolate cake (my recipe found here) paired with the beautiful cinnamon was gorgeous. It was in total, brilliant.
I have been having far too much fun baking. From baked pancakes to pretty chocolate cake, I have been spending most of my time baking. Today I made chocolate cake. The cake made the entire house smell so chocolate-y… It was fantastic. The only change I’d make to this would be to add chocolate chips for the full-chocolate experience… But that’s just me.
Hello! I am attempting to catch up on everything I’ve been too busy to post! I made this right before Passover for a friend and made sure to take pictures of this delightful cake. It is a simple white cake that you can easily make into practically anything. Not to mention, it’s very simple so you can always have your kids help out with some of the batter in a smaller bowl. 🙂 If you end up doing the tie-dye they can even help you figure out what colors mixed together makes another color. It can be a learning experience as well as a fun time. 🙂
You will need sugar, butter/margarine, eggs/applesauce, vanilla, baking powder, flour, milk and food coloring.
